When the classroom is well managed, you can teach the many things you want students to learn. In this workshop we'll explore 4 foundational components that must be in place to build and sustain a positive early childhood learning community: strong relationships; clear systems and procedures; explicit social skill instruction; and developmentally appropriate expectations. Through video and photo examples, we'll examine how these components provide a base level of support to help all children be successful. You will leave with practical strategies to manage a classroom of busy young learners.
Early writing supports the development of phonics, phonological awareness, and reading. Writing in Pre-K is much more than copying words and writing your name. By the end of Pre-K, young learners should be using phonetic or “invented spelling” to write words. In this workshop we will explore shared writing, interactive writing, and independent writing activities to support students to become strong writers.
Come play with us! The Block Center is a great place to promote science, math, literacy, and social concepts all year long.
