About Me
I grew up in southern California until my family and I moved to Austin when I was in 8th grade and went to Kealing Middle School and Anderson High School. After graduating I went to University of Colorado and graduated in 1997. I moved back to Austin and have lived here ever since. I LOVE it here!
Family
It’s just the four of us- Taylor, the greatest daugter in the world, Chloe and Libby, our dogs, and myself.
Hobbies
In my free time, I READ whatever I can get my hands on. I read online, books, the back of the shampoo bottle, at home, in grocery lines. I’m almost always reading, but my other hobbies include scuba diving, camping, hiking, playing with my dogs Chloe and Libby, and traveling!
Travel
I love to meet people and see new places. I have traveled to many places in the United States, Mexico, and Jamaica and look forward to traveling abroad in the future. I especially like warm places with a beach! My favorite beach so far is in Tulum, Mexico.
Teaching
This will be my fourteenth year teaching. Five years ago, I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. (Woo hoo!) That was a long, HARD year (ask everyone who had to deal with me!) but I’m proud of myself for reaching that goal. I’m now mentoring National Board candidates who are working to complete the process themselves. In the same year I also earned my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading. I’ve taught at Travis Heights, Walnut Creek, and Clayton Elementary. I teach with fantastic people and the greatest parents and students. Life is good.
