In this workshop, participants will examine students' short answer responses to identify the qualities and components of a successful response, including effective strategies to teach them (citing, paraphrasing, and quoting). Nuances of the STAAR short answers (SAs) will be addressed, as well as how to develop successful short answers in the middle school classroom in preparation for high school.
